Lazy Sunday...

Hello!
So my weekend has been quite uneventful really. Russ worked on Saturday, and I worked on a paper for my Political Science class.

It was a paper on the possibility of California's state parks possibly being closed for a bit due to our state's huge budget problems... it is so sad to me. I have such amazing memories especially of one of the parks (Big Basin Redwoods) in particular. We spent many camping trips there when I was younger, and I just loved it there...

To think of losing this beauty (though they say it will only be for a few years) really saddens me...

No idea who these people are, but aren't these trees just amazing? They really are THAT BIG. My brother and I used to love going inside the trees and exploring...

We have been planning a trip back to Big Basin this summer, and by the looks of it, we better make that soon, before we lose the opportunity.
If you are a Californian (or even if you aren't!!!) and would hate to see many of our amazing parks such as Big Basin Redwoods be closed (no matter how long they say it will be for), please check out this site to sign a petition... this was turned down last year and hopefully it will be again.
On another note, Russ and I rented Doubt from our beloved local Redbox (which reminds me, I need to drive over there and take it back when I'm done with this entry). I enjoyed the movie... I think it was very interesting, and I like that not everything is entirely answered, and leaves the viewer to make their own judgement on what really happened...
Don't want to say too much more, I'm a firm believer in not giving things away and ruining the movie for others! As you probably know it had many nominations this year, and had an incredible cast. If you are in the mood for a serious movie (and maybe even a little dark), then I would check this one out...

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!! I'm off to hopefully return my Redbox rental and watch the MTV Movie Awards :)

Ok Seriously...

I got into my car and was driving down the road when I glanced down at my dashboard.

102.

It's not even May.

This...is...ridiculous...

Sorry, just had to complain to someone ;)

April Showers...

Well, we're having a bit of a break in the lovely weather that we've had for the past few weeks. It is grey and raining outside, and has been this way since Tuesday.
To be honest, I don't really mind... the weather was warming up at an alarmingly fast pace, and I was worried that Summer would be here much too soon. Summer is generally our longest season where I live, and like I've said, it gets smoldering hot.

I have been wanting to get rid of my car and "downgrade" to something less expensive, and something I won't have to worry about as much. I worry constantly about that stupid car, and about my parking places because it has been dented before by other cars and by being hit by shopping carts. To be honest, I just want something older right now, especially while I am in college. It just isn't a practical student car... but on summer days in California, I know I'll miss its ice-cold a/c.

I have been attempting to go "full speed ahead" on my assignments that are due after my Spring Break, and today is my last official day of Spring Break, though of course I still have the weekend. Some of the big projects included a short story due in my writing class, which I was literally sweating beads of frustration over. I finally came up with a so-so plot and just went with it. Do I love it? Definitely not.

My other paper was a paper on cultural rites of passage as an adjustment strategy. I chose to do mine on Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in Mexico. I'm a little worried about its connection to the term "rite of passage" but I think it can be argued that it helps adjust to the concept of death and dying... so certainly a cultural adjustment strategy, I think.

Okay, I'm sorry. This post has been complete garbage... I'm really just avoiding finishing up that paper I just mentioned, and to be honest I've been feeling pretty crummy these past few days. Yesterday I was so dizzy (allergies?), but had some sizzling rice soup from takeout Chinese and felt immensely better for at least a little bit, although my head is fuzzy again today, which is making it hard to seriously work on papers. (Excuses excuses...)

Hope you all have some better weather where you are, and have a wonderful weekend, if I don't blog before then!

Midtown in Bloom

My friend Ariadna and I went to Sacramento yesterday to enjoy the nice weather & have some lunch. And of course, we took pictures... we are both quite snap-happy, particularly when we get together.

Sunny Saturday

Russ and I decided last week that we wanted to get out of town for at least a day this weekend. So of course, where did we decide to go? San Francisco :) (I know, I know, we're so original)
We decided that this time, it was just going to be the two of us, though we did go see my aunt and uncle for a little bit.
We also went to the Aquarium of the Bay... sadly, total waste of money. Half of it was closed for construction, I really felt like they should have told us that when we bought the tickets. That really bothered me.

Other than that, we kind of just wandered around the rest of the day. We went to a farmer's market in the morning and ate some goodies. Russ and I sat down across from the water and just enjoyed the most amazing Asian pear ever... it was better than any kind of dessert, and it was huge.

It was a nice day, we got a lot of exercise and opted to walk everywhere, rather than taking the bus which always confuses us anyways. Plus it was beautiful out and everything was in bloom... it was lovely.

We ended the day in China town with a nice dinner. All in all, it was a great day!

Welcome Spring!

Well, Spring is officially here, and I'm ready to enjoy the mild weather while it lasts! Where I live in California, it is unfortunately nothing like So Cal where it is generally mild temperatures all year. (I have family that lives in San Diego... hot to them is 80 degrees, and at 60 degrees they are shivering)
While it doesn't get too cold where I live, it does get pretty hot, even up to 115 degrees in the summer. Yuck.
Right now, our town looks really lovely... we have a lot of those cherry trees that have pink blossoms... so there's lots of color everywhere. I'm loving it :)

I'm also loving that Twilight will soon be mine...

I didn't pre-order or anything from anywhere... but I'm sure I'll get my copy somewhere, somehow.

Hope you all are enjoying some Spring weather where you are!!

Sunny Sundays...and Saturdays!

I hope all my fellow Californians enjoyed the AMAZING weather we had this weekend! It was about 63 degrees and VERY sunny today! Actually it was just as beautiful yesterday!

We didn't do much really this weekend, but I did go see Bride Wars on Saturday night... it was good for what it was... it was cute. It had it's moments I guess you could say, nothing of substance though. Which really, was what I was in the mood for, just something mindless....
After the bad reviews, I didn't really want to see it, but my friend really wanted to, so we ended up going. I always enjoy Anne Hathaway anyways...
We also went to the doggy park both days. It's something I really enjoy doing, and the weather was so nice it would have been a shame not to get out and do some stuff!

So yeah! Not really much to say, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend... back to the daily grind tomorrow... ugh, how I despise Sunday nights!

OH! And I love PostSecret.com, and just thought this one was cute...I might share some of my favorites from time to time. If you've never checked post secret, its a site where you can anonymously send in your "secrets" and select secrets will be posted every Sunday. Some are funny, some are sad, some are gross, and some are inspiring. I think it's very fascinating and also have some of their coffee table books of secrets that they have published! I think my good friend Brittany told me about this site a few years ago!
