It's a Dog's Life

When the humans are at work...well....

Just had to share the lovely mess that we come home to every so often. That is all bark that Delilah has dragged inside into our kitchen. Now, I went through our entire backyard and literally picked up every piece of bark that I could possibly find and threw it away. Somehow, she still finds plenty to decorate the house with.

Hey, what else is there to do, right?

P.S: Are you all sick of seeing my red plaid scarf yet? Cuz I'm clearly not...

Here...there...everywhere!

Above: My morning drive on Friday

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Well... okay, to me at least. The mornings have been especially foggy, and I guess for me that's winter! So my mom's birthday surprise for me on Friday was AMAZING! We drove to a little spa called Harmony and she treated me to a pedicure, a facial, and a massage!!! I have never had a facial or a massage, and it was absolutely wonderful. I haven't felt that relaxed in a long time.
Friday night Russ and I went to the Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner, and then went and saw Four Christmases. Well, it wasn't as bad as I expected, we had a few laughs and enjoyed the sweet parts of the movie and just overall getting into the spirit of Christmas.
On Saturday we went to a Christmas parade with our Dachshund meetup group, and afterwards went to our friend's store for snacks and just to hang out with friends and our dogs. Because the city was geared up for the Christmas parade, they also had a "Santa" in the store available for pictures, which I ended up mostly taking of people. Not that I'm complaining, I love taking pictures, especially ones that will put a smile on their face!

It was a lot of fun... If you haven't ever checked it out, Meetup.com is an awesome site to go find local clubs. My mom started our Dachshund meetup, and there are over a hundred members now. We do fundraising for local animal rescue and also just socialize with people who have at least one thing in common with us (though generally more)! I also found my amazing book club on meetup, and am having the best time with the girls I've met there!
Well, we wrapped up the weekend on Sunday doing some work on the house (me on the inside, Russ outside). Russ topped off our side planter with bark (gosh, what a cheap and easy improvement), and started on our Christmas lights. I will most likely post some pictures of our lights once they are up!
Hope you all had an amazing weekend!

T.G.I.F...almost.

Hello! Well, I haven't written lately because life has been quite uneventful. Poor Russ is sick with some stomach virus and called in sick, and took himself (gasp) to the doctor. Now, I have to say it must be something quite nasty if Russ takes himself willingly to the doctor.

I snapped some pictures of him cuddling with Lilah, she has been cuddling with him constantly while he's been sick. I think dogs just know those kinds of things...

Oh, and I DID figure out that if I use the red eye for humans, it sometimes works for dog eyes too, but not always. And it gives her kind of a "beady-eye" effect, but still an improvement over the yellow orbs!

As for me, I am certainly glad that tomorrow is Friday! I only work half the day tomorrow, and my mom will be taking me to an undisclosed location (it's an early birthday surprise). Needless to say, I am quite excited!!

Take care and enjoy your Friday!

This N' That

I hope that everyone had a great holiday weekend! It was amazing to have four days (and a half day last Wednesday) off! This is the most time off we've had in a year, and it was wonderful.

We went out and did some things that we haven't gotten to do in awhile, like go to the dog park with our puppy (it gets dark here at around 4:45PM... by the time we get home its too dark to go, and we have had other obligations for the past few weekends). We took her and also her brother, who my mom still has yet to find a home for...

Here are some pictures from the doggy park... they aren't very clear, because I had turned my flash off and it was around dusk (I didn't want to be that person taking pics of her dog at the park LOL!)

Delilah is on the left, "Big Boy" (He doesn't have an official name...) is the blurry one on the right.

Russ and "Big Boy"

Russ with some other dogs & owners... there was a basset hound puppy that was SO CUTE! His long ears were dragging on the ground they were so big!
Later that day we took the dogs back to my mom's and then headed to the mall. I NEED to get some of my shopping done! So far I have only finished shopping for ONE person, & not even a family member!
So tonight, I will be writing down each person and at least three things (so that I can have options) that I think they would like & where I might find these things... the only person who has told me something they would like is my mom, who has only told me some nightgowns and a throw for her couch. Which really, is a great start.
Russ and I have agreed not to get gifts for each other this year because we would like to just save our money for one of three things... 1. New Mattress 2. New Computer and 3. (at totally bottom of MY list, top of Russ') New TV. Personally, I am just fine with the TV we have, but you know how guys can be with those TVs!
I did at least find a few things for one of my friends at the mall this weekend... but that's about it. Getting Russ to go to the mall with me is like pulling teeth, and if I go without him he complains about being at home or being hungry, etc, etc.
So usually I just bribe him with things like...
Gelato... (this is him sad when all the gelato was gone)

Once again, I hope you all had a great weekend... back to the daily grind tomorrow!
